Temporary closure OLVG-Oost delivery ward

The hospitals are busy. In recent weeks, both OLVG East and West have had to refuse and move a lot of births because there was insufficient staff available. Due to sick reports, the prospects for the coming weeks are so bad that solutions have been sought to keep the capacity as optimal as possible. Ultimately, it was decided to close the delivery rooms in East for the coming period. This measure will take effect on 1 August and will last until at least the end of September. This means that we will not be able to go to OLVG East for deliveries in the near future. Emergency care during pregnancy will also not be provided in East in the coming period. Planned caesarean sections and pre-scheduled outpatient clinic appointments will continue. The OLVG will draw up a letter explaining the measure and its consequences. As soon as we receive it, we will forward the letter to you.

We were informed of this measure only a few days in advance and were greatly surprised by it. Fortunately, there are still 4 locations in Amsterdam-Amstelland where we can go for outpatient deliveries or emergencies. Although we understand the plight of the OLVG, we deeply regret this decision.
